June 3 – RAAGNE Zabuli Center Project
The Rotary Alumni Association of Greater New England (RAAGNE) is pleased to support the steadfast efforts of the Zabuli Education Center in Afghanistan in their mission to educate girls.

The school opened its doors in March 2008, and now provides free education to more than 400 Afghan girls who were previously denied educational opportunities. Students range in age from four to twenty-two. The curriculum is both academic and practical, taught by experienced, native teachers.

The Zabuli Education Center was founded by Afghan native Razia Jan through the Razia’s Ray of Hope Foundation. Razia’s dream of a school for girls became reality through the collaboration of several extraordinary women — as well as the vital support from generous organizations and the hard work of staff and volunteers.

RAAGNE is committed to this cause and asks for your support and commitment to educating the young women and children of Afghanistan. Funds will go towards purchasing computers and providing teachers for the education of young women.

Dec 29, 2013
The December Newsletter has been published! Featured in the newsletter are details regarding the 2014 Rotary International Convention, 2014 Rotary World Peace Scholarships, an update from former Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar (Hannah Warren), and an update regarding what Rotary is doing to help victims of the super typhoon in the Philippines.

Rotary is a volunteer organization of 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders in more than 200 countries who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and build goodwill and peace in the world.

We are a group of Rotary members and alumni working to connect interested alumni via the Internet. This is an exciting opportunity to connect people on a global scale and network with one another. It will give you the opportunity to get involved and create projects, or join in other projects, and to network with the Rotary community. This Alumni Association is for people who are, or have been, participants in these Rotary Foundation programs:

• Ambassadorial Scholarships
• Group Study Exchange (GSE)
• Rotary Peace Fellowships
• Grants for University Teachers
• Foundation Program Volunteers

This recognizes that it is very difficult for Rotary to stay connected with alumni once they have completed their programs.  Consequently, some alumni tell that Rotarians have rarely contacted them to invite them to participate in Rotary club meetings, events, or projects, or to remain connected with Rotary’s mission. RAAGNE seeks to create that reconnection between Rotary and RAAGNE members!

Please feel free to contact us with any questions!
